ROLE PURPOSE
To support the business as subject matter expert, using engineering and design knowledge / experience to support the other engineering functions with mechanical design activities. To lead and participate in DFM activities; leading problem resolution and other continuous improvement initiatives and activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform engineering tasks in the development of custom dispense systems specifications for the module and pack assembly pre-production and high-volume assembly lines
Guide projects through the design and development process with the line integrators to produce practical design solutions.
Work with the solutions providers on conceptual designs, lead and participate in detailed design reviews with a cross functional team, identify applicable standards and compliance requirements for air quality, exhaust, waste streams, storage, shutdown and start up
Guide the integrators to produce standard instruction manuals and product literature, training documents, recipe backups
Work effectively in a team environment, work on custom and small projects as required
Lead the FAT and SAT requirements document generations for the custom solutions
Create and maintain project schedules, work with other team members to ensure satisfactory completion of all steps in project approval and execution process
Identify and communicate risks to appropriate management
Support the Advanced Automation Teams with the plant layouts, and equipment footprints and utilities as needed.
Supporting and lead the DFM activities around the custom solutions for dispense and potting.
Defining commonization strategy and establish best practice for department design standards.
Participate in virtual build events, lead the effort to create the standard operating procedures for operators and maintenance staff. Creation and updates to standard spare parts list and maintain the process in CMMS for the custom solutions.
Devise and own specific elements of the quality improvement road map supporting the Quality Management System and our compliance to ISO9001:2015, and any project specific quality requirements.
Training and mentoring of junior Engineers.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 4 years’ experience gained in a low / mid volume manufacturing / production assembly environment.
Ability to independently produce innovative and successful design solutions to technical problems
Extensive knowledge of low / mid volume automation tooling and equipment.
Experience in the use of business improvement tools and techniques (5s, Lean, Kaizen etc.) and the use of PFMEA’s and DFMEA’s.
A good knowledge of TS16949, AS9100, ISO14001 and ISO9001 to comply with company processes is essential.
A team player with the ability to work on own initiative, and able to influence others by demonstrating a positive “can do” attitude.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work at pace in a multi-project environment.
