CAD ENGINEER

We are recruiting an exciting opportunity for a CAD Engineer to join an automotive business in the Northamptonshire area:

£35,000 - £40,000

HOURS

Monday - Friday | 0800 - 1700

Within this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Lead/Chief Engineer by designing and developing systems for various programmes and project frameworks. Also, to produce detailed design schemes using computer-aided software such as CATIA V5.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop and engineer high quality models using 3D and 2D CAD tools, considering design for manufacturing and assembly, the quality of functional deployment and the finite element analysis data

• Design system attributes and frameworks for processes and produce designs that meet targets for feasibility, performance, costs, quality, safety, legislation, and timing

• Ensure all work that is carried out is following Company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance and procedural standards

• Interact with and support the Lead/Chief Engineer as necessary to obtain critical design information to achieve targets effectively and within intended time frames

• Update and maintain product design files

• Assist in improving daily processes to ensure that all systems meet the necessary specifications and performance targets necessary

• Train and guide the team on design reviews in addition to customers and suppliers

• Determine limitation, assumptions and solutions in the design and development of CAD models

• Analyse, design and build business/technical solutions that deliver the desired outcome

• Create detailed design documentation

• Define, create, and maintain development methodologies, procedures, and standards

• Produce final design specifications

EXPERIENCE

• Catia V5 knowledge/experience

• Knowledge of materials and processes to ensure designs are developed meeting industry standards

• Experience with system design and delivery

• Experience in automotive components (Interior/Exterior/Vehicle), processes, and systems in a motorsport/low volume environment

• Practice in technical skills such as GD&T, DFM, DFA, CAE/FEA, CAD, FMEA, DVP&R
