Electromechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an Electromechanical Design Engineer to join our Client’s engineering team, and deliver new strategic product developments whilst working alongside their design engineering team.
THE ROLE
Joining an evolving professional engineering team you will report to the Design Team Manager working in a dynamic, global and multi-project environment.
You will be responsible for the technical delivery of new strategic product developments whilst working in the design engineering team on hardware and (in certain projects) electronics.
You will work in often an interfacing role with the software team and suppliers for electro mechanical products going through the new product development process and ensure that the business has comprehensive understanding of the interfacing part of the product between hardware and software functionality.
Ensuring the specific key product characteristics and technical specification of the product are correctly defined with the teams from the start of product developments.
Working through engineering design problems from first principles for optimal design and FMEA checks ensuring quality/technical standards are being met.
Working with international manufacturing and launch teams to ensure tooling designs are appropriate for the product and its projected volume plans.
You will be a contributor to the continuous improvement and development of engineering processes, applying lessons learned and ensuring lean project delivery.
Be comfortable with fast paced change management scenarios, custom product development project setups and flexible scoping of work.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Technical degree in an Accredited Engineering related subject.
At least 3 years’ experience working in product development engineering (of electronic products) for intended production.
Strong 2D&3D CAD skills (Solidworks)
Experienced with Product & Component Design.
Comfortable designing & developing new products working to a given design brief.
Understanding of software integration with mechanical products.
Understanding of tooling constraints with regards to die-casting, presswork and injection mouldings.
Surface modelling in solidworks.
