The role will have responsibility for leading a team of Manufacturing, and Senior Manufacturing Engineers to ensure full support to operational production programme requirements through the deployment of suitable tools, techniques and processes. A key part of this role is to develop people, processes and procedures, to support multiple projects and manufacturing activities.
Development and management of the organisations Manufacturing Engineering strategy to support the overall business strategy;
Management and development of all Manufacturing Engineers and activities to support the needs of the business;
Management representative for all manufacturing engineering tasks and activities;
Development and collation of critical KPI data to support the management review process;
Support the development of PFMEA, control plans, SOP’s, MBOM’s and work instructions;
Identification and implementation of manufacturing best practice to enable operational efficiency and associated improvements.
The successful individual will work closely with the wider Manufacturing team to define and implement appropriate manufacturing tools, techniques, processes, jigs, fixtures and equipment. They will assist with the management and resolution of customer, internal and supplier quality concerns and improvement activities and promote the use of cross-functional team approach between engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and quality functions in project management.
An important aspect of the role will be to drive continuous improvement both within the Manufacturing team and wider operational organisation.
We are seeking someone with a proven track record as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in an automotive OEM, tier one supplier or related business. You will have extensive knowledge of low / mid volume automation tools and techniques and practical hands on manufacturing experience in related industry – likely to be automotive, but complimented by defence, aerospace, and other technical sectors.
Strong practical problem solving skills with the knowledge and experience to mentor others in the use of disciplined problem solving tools and techniques such as 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, SOP’s is essential, along with experience in implementing APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
Appropriate knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter, MPP, and NoMuda Visual Factory software would be useful as would knowledge and experience of implementing lean methods (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen). An understanding of statistical techniques (MSA, Acceptance Sampling, Process Capability, Statistical Process Control, Gauge R & R,) is important.
The successful individual will have the ability and experience of dealing with supplier and customer representatives at all levels, have excellent prioritising, organisation, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills and a positive and constructive attitude.
