ROLE PURPOSE
To manage the battery test facility, team, capability and capacity, supporting the Manufacturing and Engineering functions. Primary Functional responsibility will be the Mechanical and Environmental areas, equipment and team, with operational responsibility (day to day) over additional test site facilities and functions
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the set up, operation and maintenance of a high performance battery test facility.
Specification of battery test equipment and associated operational procedures
Installation, commissioning, set up and operation of battery test facilities and equipment
Management of a team of technicians, engineers and Lead engineers, maintaining and operating the facility in an efficient, flexible and adaptable manner
Optimisation of Battery test processes and procedures ensuring facility efficiency and high utilisation
Work closely with Battery manufacturing team and technical design and development teams
Identify and implement optimum working practices, risk assessments and capacity plan available test resources. Future facility, equipment and capacity planning
Technical lead for Mechanical and Environmental testing, including procedures, schedules, protocols and results analysis
Support, development and training of appropriate team members within the test facility function and wider team.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Management and motivation of departmental staff
Highly disciplined, analytical and organised.
Ability to plan and balance workload and operational priorities in a fast-paced technical environment
CORE SKILLS:
Solid Working Knowledge of Battery systems and products (cells, modules, packs and applications)
Likely to have worked within an automotive electric vehicle environment or similar
Thorough and demonstrable understanding of battery test systems (with a bias towards mechanical and environmental testing), procedures and equipment
Ability to decipher and analyse battery test results and provide feedback to technical engineering departments
Ability to problem solve and work both proactively and reactively
Proactive and detailed approach to Health & Safety within a HaV working environment
Knowledge of test shop KPIs and reporting
Knowledge of electrical schematics and power management equipment
Fuel cell test knowledge would also be beneficial
Strong communication skills both in written and verbal
Ability to establish test set up procedures and run tests to spec
Flexible, responsive, adaptive and collaborative attitude
