We are recruiting an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join an automotive business in the Coventry area:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and deliver specific exterior systems, to meet design specifications and styling intentions
Ability to communicate clearly & confidently with senior management (CEO etc are very hands on and have final say in any design change requests)
Represent the department with the project status within the relevant forums
The candidate must have familiarity and experience in delivering commodities across Vehicle Engineering, and have understanding of Body, Chassis, Paint, Glass, Lamps etc
Support with all planning and project management activities required to deliver on time and to budget
Conduct / Support / plan design reviews with other function groups
Be able to support build both prototype & production
Lead / Support DFM – both internally and with externally with suppliers
Knowledge of DFMEA
Cross-functional working with other function groups is required to ensure Singer successfully deliver the vehicle project objectives
Able to own, and investigate parts, and components, and commodities and see them through to a successful conclusion
Support engineering team to ensure submissions/Releases are reflective of the accurate Engineering status and to the correct quality standards
Support the team in tracking piece cost and investment against targets, ensuring latest status is communicated to the Finance team, and the risks and opportunities process is being driven
Create KPIs as required to drive the activities of the engineering team and to feed into the Programme team. Understand the open issues associated with the KPI status and work to drive mitigation plans to resolve open issues
Ensure all commodities within the Function Group have an up-to-date commodity delivery plan (hardware & software) that includes tasks required to validate parts ahead of build. Any incompatibilities with Programme timing to be escalated through the Programme team.
Support commodity owners in co-ordinating APQP gateways for each of their commodities
Co-ordinate workplan to ensure technical requirements for RFQs are ready and submitted to the procurement team in line with the supplier nomination
Co-ordinate test & validation requirements for the Function Group and feed them into the Test & Validation team
Act as the single point of contact for all cross-functional discussions as required
Support the Function Group Lead with the capturing of minutes and actions from the respective PMT/PAT meetings
Other tasks as assigned by a line manager
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Engineering degree or equivalent experience
Experience delivering commodities on a vehicle Programme
Knowledge of carbon fibre / component design desirable
Knowledge, and experience of working within a low volume Automotive environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong project management skills
Ability to manage data and create KPIs
APM/Prince 2 qualifications desirable
