Project Engineer – Electrical
LOCATION
Northamptonshire (Flexibility to travel to local sites)
SALARY
c£45k (Depending on experience)
An exciting opportunity to work within a low volume sports car environment as a Project Engineer to support, manage, and be a link across various Electrical/Electronic work streams.
An exciting role working within a varied, and fast paced environment to ensure timing plans, project status, and BOM are tracked, and monitored accordingly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to communicate clearly & confidently with senior management, and across the team.
Represent the department with the project status within the relevant forums.
The candidate must have familiarity and experience in delivering commodities across Electrical or Electronics within the Automotive or Motorsport sector.
Support with all planning and engineering activities required to deliver on time and to budget.
Conduct / Support / plan design reviews with other function groups
Lead / Support DFM – both internally and with externally with suppliers
Knowledge of DFMEA
Cross-functional working with other function groups is required to ensure the client successfully deliver the vehicle project objectives.
Able to own, and investigate parts, components, and commodities and see them through to a successful conclusion.
Support engineering team to ensure submissions/Releases are reflective of the accurate Engineering status and to the correct quality standards.
Support the team in tracking piece cost and investment against targets, ensuring latest status is communicated to the Finance team, and the risks and opportunities process is being driven.
Create KPIs as required to drive the activities of the engineering team and to feed into the Programme team. Understand the open issues associated with the KPI status and work to drive mitigation plans to resolve open issues.
Ensure all commodities within the Function Group have an up-to-date commodity delivery plan that includes tasks required to validate parts ahead of build. Any incompatibilities with Programme timing to be escalated through the Programme team.
Co-ordinate workplan to ensure technical requirements for RFQs are ready and submitted to the procurement team in line with the supplier nomination.
Act as the single point of contact for all cross-functional discussions as required.
Support the Function Group Lead with the capturing of minutes and actions from the respective PMT/PAT meetings.
Other tasks as assigned by a line manager.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Engineering degree or equivalent experience
Experience and knowledge of Electrical or Electronics within the Automotive/Motorsport industry
OEM experience would be preferred.
Knowledge or experience of working within pre-production
Knowledge, and experience of working within a low volume Automotive environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage data and create KPIs.
APM/Prince 2 qualifications desirable
