Baker and Baker Recruitment are representing a client in the Warwickshire region of the UK who are looking for an Senior Engineer (Test and Development) to join their team on a permanent basis.


Senior Engineer (Test and Development)


£45-60k (Depending on Experience)






As a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for providing project leadership to successfully deliver your own projects, as well as supporting those of others. Applying technical knowledge and experience to interesting and challenging projects for a wide variety of customers, markets and sectors. Supporting engineers, ensuring they are developing skills and capabilities whilst using the most appropriate suitable methods. Generating and maintaining relationships with customers at an appropriate level.


  • Application of technical knowledge and experience to provide innovative engineering solutions to meet a variety of customer requirements

  • Use of and proficient in appropriate software related to your engineering background

  • Where appropriate, undertake Project Lead role; leading a small/medium project team to deliver a successful project outcome; from both a technical and commercial perspective

  • Conduct both rig and vehicle tests independently without supervision

  • Support senior technical staff in complex development and test activities

  • Support FMEA reviews

  • Prepare test plan and specifications

  • Specify test rig requirements including instrumentation and fixture tooling

  • Plan and co-ordinate suppliers and external testing

  • Specify and prepare data logging equipment, instrumentation and wiring requirements

  • Supervise technicians with build, test and measurement procedures and supporting documentation

  • Calibrate instrumentation

  • Conduct and provide instructions for testing

  • Running the rigs and test execution

  • Generate test results, analyse data and compile test reports

  • Degree educated in mechanical, electrical or control engineering or related discipline OR equivalent demonstrable experience relevant to a technical consulting or engineering services environment

  • Innovative thinker and problem solver with an active role in the continuous improvement initiatives within the function

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate technical progress to senior engineering staff and customers

  • Mathematical aptitude

  • Accuracy and attention to details

  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve results

  • Project management

  • Commercially astute

  • Identify problems in a timely manner and ensure the best engineering solutions are applied

  • Support and develop engineers within the function as well as your own knowledge, experience and skills

  • Present and communicate technical and commercial information, clearly and concisely, both internally and to customers

  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with peers, business development and technical leaders

  • Support the business development team in the creation of technical project proposals and resourcing estimates

  • Contribute to and deliver technical conference and white papers

  • Full UK driving licence
