The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to support our MHEV System quality team.
The successful candidate will support solving Mild Hybrid System related problems across the business and global customer base.
It involves helping to design, process quality related issues, to develop and validate fixes and solutions for field issues and ensure forward model teams integrate lesson learnt.
MHEV System FMQ support engineer will support the FMQ lead engineer with improving the quality experience for our customers by managing and resolving key quality projects focusing on customer complaints whilst making use of the IQM 8D management system. You will define new areas of investigation for quality improvement and provide support to dealers, internal problem-solving teams and customer service organisation. Also ensure robustness during problem resolution of the key projects are fed into our body of knowledge to ensure necessary prevent reoccurrence actions are in place.
Key Performance Indicators
· Project leadership on problem solving process including understanding the problem definition and scope, root cause investigation, interim and permanent corrective actions, prevent recurrence actions and field service actions
· Ability to communicate the problem-solving steps with a clear and concise message at all levels within the organisation.
· Due diligence and evidence-based engineering in all problem-solving steps
· Identify and manage emerging risks and mitigations in a timely manner

You will be expected:
· To manage IQM projects that have a defined problem statement into the root cause, corrective action, implementation and prevent recurrence steps.
· To lead and coordinate cross functional team including design, validation, STA and manufacturing to ensure robust progression of the quality and warranty projects.
· To lead the root cause investigation activities using tools such as Is / Is Not, 5 Why, Scope Analysis, statistical quality data analysis and vehicle level validation tests.
· To demonstrate precision, control and integrity in all problem-solving steps and to make all decisions based on evidence-based engineering principles using reliable data only.
· To manage, coordinate and perform validation plans at the root cause and corrective action steps of your project.
· To ensure that necessary interim, corrective and prevent recurrence actions are taken not only to address the issue in current production but also in the field by ensuring that the best solution (information, procedure etc) is available for service team.
· To ensure the service team and dealership network have robust guided flows are available to ensure appropriate diagnosis can be undertaken swiftly and efficiently.
· Feedback to global teams to improve diagnostic processes and support warranty recovery actions. Collaborate with global field engineering teams to collect intelligence, identify and share best practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
· Ability to apply of problem-solving skills such as 8D, 6 Sigma, data analysis, validation tests within a system engineering environment.
· Strong understanding of DFMEAs and continuous improvement
· Engineering experience of electrified propulsion systems/ integration
· Base overview of Hybrid & Electric Vehicle propulsion systems.
· A working knowledge of electrical Engineering and battery technology including system interactions.
· Powertrain System & Technical issue management experience
· Understanding of working in Engineering facilities, rig environments and vehicle testing
· Understanding of design and validation principles on Propulsion systems.
· Good understanding in engineering statistics in defining the scope of the customer problem. Strong Excel skills including data manipulation, analysis charting and pivot tables
· Experience applying a Systems Engineering approach
· Ability to act in an entrepreneurial environment and be resourceful and resilient to the changing demands of the business with an agile mindset
· Passion in problem solving in order to deliver the optimum solution to customers at the quickest possible timeframe.
Desirable:
· Relevant Degree or equivalent relevant automotive experience
· 6-Sigma Yellow or Green belt
· User of diagnostic/Data analysis tools; INCA/Canalyzer/Corvus/Matlab/picoscope/MDA
· Experience of managing 8D and 6Sigma projects for key technical problems in a tight timeframe and agile framework.
· Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
