PRINCIPAL ENGINEER - POWERTRAIN

We are recruiting an exciting opportunity for a Principle Powertrain Engineer to join an Automotive business in the Warwickshire area :

£65,000 - £75,000

LOCATION

Coventry + travel to other sites as required locally

ROLE PURPOSE

The Powertrain function group is responsible for the full range of powertrain systems across all product lines.  This includes Base Engine and Dress, Fuel, Cooling, Mounting, Exhaust, Intake, Transmission and Clutch, AC condensers and pipework.  Base Engine and Dress are covered by our strategic development supplier, and we now need someone to lead the development of the integration system.

Working with the Project Engineers and appropriate in-house and external resources, the PE will specify appropriate hardware, guide and direct packaging exercises, identify and manage suppliers, plan and oversee testing, and drive the systems to Production Release within program timing and budget.

The role will require the interpretation of high-level program plans into a set of commodity plans and cascading them to the wider Powertrain team.  The PE will ‘own’ the Integration systems and have overall responsibility for specifying, designing and packaging (using design resource), testing and validating, and launching the systems into production.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

This role requires a degree of technical expertise in powertrain integration systems.  The requirement is for an experienced Engineer who knows their way around the relevant systems and can lead and direct suppliers and in-house experts and designers to ensure that the components offered are fit for purpose.

The role requires leadership and a sense of ownership, energy, curiosity, assertiveness, effective communication skills and a focus on delivery above all else.
