ROLE PURPOSE


An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Design Engineer – DMU (Digital Mock-Up) to join our clients Design department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. Working closely with the Head of Design, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and administering DMU process within the Design Group and liaising and presenting to other Engineering Teams to ensure that business requirements are being met.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Reporting into the Design Group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the DMU / CAD cleanliness Process and Guidelines.

  • Liaise across the Design Team, other Engineering functions and external stakeholders to ensure that all packaging concerns are identified, recorded, and work with the relevant teams to resolve.

  • Chair and minute cross-function package and virtual build reviews through DMU.

  • Support BOM and Change Control processes, including weight management.

  • Support packaging of components to meet system and project requirements while optimizing for efficiency, cost, weight, ergonomics, manufacturability, quality, and serviceability.

  • Deliver training to ensure that Engineering Teams understand the correct use of DMU toolset.

  • Support the component release process using Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Vis Mockup or Adobe.

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure cost, manufacturing capability and quality targets are met.

  • Assist in the development of the Design Group through the generation of process controls and guidelines.

  • Responsibilities may include the development, mentoring and guiding of team members as required.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • A relevant engineering degree or be able to show capability by proven experience.

  • Experience in design or manufacturing or be able to show your experience is transferrable.

  • A good understanding of engineering and able to adapt to mechanical, composite and electrical systems as required.

  • Literacy in Siemens NX and Teamcenter, working knowledge of CATIA V5 would be beneficial.

  • Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Work with a level of independence, respond quickly to issues and to maintain departmental standards.
